History: Oranges are the most popular of all citrus fruits. It is believed by many that the “Golden Apples of the Hesperides” referred to in Greek mythology are actually oranges rather than apples. In China, dried oranges were eaten to relieve bloating in the stomach. The peel was taken to relieve coughs. It was also used to help the spleen and stomach function properly, as well as be a general overall tonic for the body. Oranges have been used in perfumes and cosmetics. They have also been used in many wood cleaning products.
